About Valkyrie

A space for all of us

 Valkyrie Yoga
Our Vision

A space for the creator in all of us

Our mission is to anchor in a welcoming space for people to remember who they are, their power and their own unique gifts and purpose.  We hold an inviting container for each individual to heal and remember their truth.  As we become healthier our quality of life expands and Valkyrie is here to facilitate this expansion.  The founder, Agnete, has been studying the healing arts for over a decade.  Through her studies and experiences she is learning what it means to hold an inviting space for healing.  It is her passion and joy to offer this to the community in our own remarkable atmosphere.  Her teachers and staff are amazing, powerful, and trusted space holders.

Agnete Sandahl Hybertsen

(she/her)

Agnete was born in the heart of a dark and cold winter in Norway.  Growing up in an isolated environment led to a lifelong passion and pursuit of creating community and connection.  Agnete spent over a decade exploring the disciplines of yoga, meditation, and breathwork.  She led numerous yoga teacher trainings and continued to learn about various healing modalities such as somatic therapy, reiki, kambo, and trauma informed yoga. She became certified in all of these modalities throughout her studies and exploration.

Agnete believes that we all hold the key to our own healing and she is here to share pathways to remember.  Her passion is in community, connection, and empowerment.  She is here to hold a space for us to remember our true power, potential and magic.

Seya Speake-Pine

(they/she)

Seya Speake Pine is a Trauma-Informed Quantum Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master Teacher and Mentor, and Transformational Breathwork Facilitator with over nine years of experience in holding somatic space.  She runs various Energy Academies, Elderflower School of Mystery, and facilitates Breath Immersions that  support humans in navigating somatic reclamation from sexual trauma/substance abuse in San Diego and virtually.

Marjorie Sierra

(she/her)

Marjorie is San Diego born and raised.  She is a yoga teacher and facilitator of Transformational Breath®.  Her journey with yoga began in 1993, where she studied under Rama Berch at the Master Yoga Academy in La Jolla.  It was there that she fell in love with yoga and developed a strong practice.

Although Margie is trained in many styles of yoga, she absolutely loves the unhurried ways of hatha and yin.  She believes that the most important thing is to slow down and reconnect with the self through feeling into the body and connecting with the breath.

Her greatest love is breathwork and she provides a safe space for people to explore self.  She holds a very loving and nurturing space without ego or judgment.  She encourages everyone to show up exactly as they are.  And will hold you with all of the love, all of the time.

Elisa Lai

(she/her)

On Elisa's first evening of yoga teacher training back in 2018, led by Agnete Sandahl-Hybertsen and Fallon Lev, she went on a silent walk to the shore of Ocean Beach City Beach, carrying a plumeria flower in her hand.  In the moonlight, she cast her flower into the water to signify the setting of her intention: to find strength through serenity.  From that moment forward, she has experienced the transformational power of the breath and yoga in such profound ways which continue to ripple into her daily life; sharing these tools of transformation—which calm the mind and help us come home to ourselves—continues to be a purposeful source of joy in her life.

Anthony Gabriel Sanchez

(he/him)

Anthony is a somatic breathwork facilitator. He is trained in breathwork by our Valkyrie owner, Agnete, herself.  His offerings allow for us to explore the wisdom and power of our own body and magic.  He empowers us to create our own journey through this breath practice.  Anthony creates a container that emphasizes safety and practices with an understanding of how our bodies respond to trauma.

Anthony started his healing journey in his late 20's, not knowing his path would lead him to facilitate the very same sacred spaces he was exploring in plant medicine, music, and breath.  His Divine calling is to guide others to reacquaint themselves with their souls and connect to their magic within.

Sofia Zarina Mondragon

(She/her)

Sofia is a passionate and creative Latina lady who loves food, music, and plant medicine. Yoga gives her the space she needs to slow down and find balance.  This is essential, living in this fast-paced environment and society.  This is one of the many reasons she chose to become a yoga teacher.  Now she can hold the container to support others in slowing down and finding balance.  As someone who has a tendency to worry about what is happening next in life, yoga has helped Sofia find patience, trust, and presence.  Now she holds the space to share this gift with others.

Danielle Muller

(She/her)

Danielle’s path to becoming a yoga teacher was a winding one, of which she is continually learning.  She came to yoga while working on boats—in need of a break from the heavy lift of life on the water.  She now utilizes yoga as a reset button—taking time to quiet her mind, focus on breath, and body.  A vacation from the daily trappings of adulthood—if only for a little while.

Will

(he/him)

Free Willie!  That’s what Yoga does for Will.  It gives him a blueprint of his most inner self, his internal GPS system.  Yoga allows Will to go on an incredible journey into Self while shedding layers.  This is how Will taps into the most pure part of himself and connects with his source.  Intriguing and Scary but worth it.  Yoga is his daily path.

“It takes a village…”

“I am so grateful to be a part of a community that accepts the heart of all.  I am honored and privileged to share yoga at Valkyrie in the heart of Ocean Beach and be a positive energy in this divine community.  My intention is to share with devotion my gifts to teach and connect and to share my genuine kind hearted smile with everyone.  Honoring the light in everyone."

Abby “the bug” Bailow

(she/her)

Abby fell deeply and madly in love with yoga 7 years ago.  It was instant.  She was mesmerized.  It was something she felt that she had been searching for her whole life and she finally found, the language that she spoke. The language of the heart.  As she began to sweat and twist she remembers thinking to herself "Everyone should be invited to have this experience."  She started practicing nearly every day.  It was so much more than an hour long physical practice. She completed a 200-hour teacher training program in 2017.  But like the addict that she is (don't worry, she is happily in recovery), she wanted more.  She also wanted to be able to offer everyone a practice that was accessible to them.  She took an additional 300-hour program to broaden her education in yin, restorative, accessible yoga, and yoga of recovery.  After that, she craved a deeper understanding of the body and she attended a cadaver dissection course which focused on fascia and respiration.  Her mind was completely blown.  That first class experience still exists within her.  Abby wholeheartedly believes this is for everyone.  For herself and her heart, there are entire worlds to find in all of these practices.  She absolutely loves holding space for others to find, remember, and come home to themselves.

Monica Petre

(She/her)

Monica believes that the simple action of showing up on our yoga mat creates a ripple effect of positivity to many other seemingly unrelated aspects of our lives.

She loves to create an atmosphere filled with great music, unity in breath, and equal parts ferocity and gentleness.

It is her intention to hold a safe space where we feel free to listen to our body’s needs to move, modify, and use our breath and tones to release tensions and welcome mobility in a nourishing community container.

Laura Gibson

(she/her)

Laura first found yoga in 2014 when she was suffering from chronic back pain.  Yoga helped alleviate not only some of her physical pain, but more importantly it helped lift her out of the depression she had been battling for years.  She truly believes that yoga saved her life.  Laura knew that she wanted to share the mental and physical benefits of this practice with others after experiencing so much healing herself. Nothing brings her more joy than facilitating growth and healing within others.  Laura strives to offer classes that are accessible to students of all levels and abilities, with a focus on finding our inner strength, and connecting to our inner voice.  Outside of the studio, you can find her trying out a new recipe, cuddling with a friend's pet, or getting down to some funky techno.

Kristie Bee

(she/her)

Kristie's yoga journey began in 2011 at Chula Vista Yoga Center.  Yoga came to her at the perfect time in her life.  Her body was experiencing some minor injuries and pains due to excessive training in sports and Yoga came in and taught her how to breathe and release the pain she was carrying.  Kristie completed YTT in 2012 and began teaching yoga to children at Chula Vista Yoga Center. Finding ways to teach meditation and breathing techniques to kids is really fun and rewarding to her.  Kristie also taught Yoga and gymnastics to children while living in Peru for 6 years.  While she highly enjoys practicing a more ‘challenging’ Ashtanga yoga, it is important for her to offer yoga to all ages and make it enjoyable, lighthearted and meaningful.

Kristie also sings, plays music, and makes art and she aims to bring conscious breath and compassion into all of her daily practices.

Rus Harrison

(he/him)

There are many paths to the top of the mountain. There is also the path of no-path... the subtle awareness of being present with all that is. Growing up in the canyon of Palomar the metaphor of the mountain revealed itself to Rus as stillness, observation, and meditation arose naturally during childhood. A deep knowing that all things share the same breath. Rus received his 200 YTT certificate in 2016. Utilizing a unique syncretism of Zen, Bhakti and Sufi, he hopes to inspire self-actualization, self-realization, and self-care.

Gianna

(She/her)

Gianna focuses on the art of healing and slowing the body down to rest and restore.

She  uses instruments such as crystal alchemy bowls, Tibetan bowls, and chimes to create harmony and deep relaxation within the mind, body and spirit.
